Write a brief reflection on what resonated with you within the required reading:
Within the reading I think the thing that really resonated with me and the thing that I will carry along with me throughout my practice and my teaching is that sometimes less is more. I find myself getting so caught up on always pushing myself to breaking point otherwise change won't happen and throughout this las month I have learned that that isn't true at all. Somedays your body and mind can handle and sometimes it really just can't and finding the courage to listen to your body and accept what it needs that day is something that I hope to always practice in life and in my yoga. My yoga practice is meant to push my body, without the intention of harm or long time damage. As I move from student position to teacher position I really want to make this clear to my students as they too move through their practice. I think the thing that I hear from teachers that resonates most with me is acknowledging that each day and each side of your body is different and to never come to that from a judgmental place, but rather to come at that as a chance for improvement down the road. While I stretch in my supine figure four one hip may be way more open than the other hip and so maybe I outside of class I should spend a little more time opening that hip up so that when I come to my mat to practice I find more balance in my body rather than during class I find myself pushing that hip to the edge and unintentionally damaging my body. Even though it seems like such a simple task to do, to listen to your body, I believe that it is one of the most difficult things to remember when the music is loud and the sweat is dripping down your face and the person next to you is doing is better than you. As I move forward I hope to truly challenge myself and my students to let go of fear and judgment towards their bodies and to listen and accept and know how truly challenging it is to listen to their bodies and give themselves what they need in that moment.
